Sometimes You Just Gotta Go TOO FAR! (Pt. 4)

#OhNoYouDidn't

Now you've done it.

You've hit a wall and no matter what you try (Right Before Wrong, Compelling Reasons and even Lead a Horse to Water), nothing works.

You're stuck. Your wheels are spinning but you're not getting traction. The lights are on but nobody's home.

I get it, I truly do.

But when you think about your options you get overwhelmed (or underwhelmed, fair point, guy in the back) or hang out in the analysis paralysis lounge.

Let me have one more crack at you, and what I'm about to suggest might surprise you.

Today's final idea is: Going Too Far.

Sometimes the fastest way to get back on track is to fully indulge in a big fat, much-needed rest, then get right back to work.

When I "just can't even" (and again, it isn't often, but it does happen), I charge my batteries by:

  • turning off my phone,
  • closing my laptop,
  • and either opening a book to read for pleasure or watching something fun (movie, series), or grabbing my husband and go get into some shenanigans.

Read: no work. No texting, Voxer, Zoom, calls, carrier pigeons. Nada.

Then I go to bed early with the full commitment I am back at it the next day.

This complete and utter break resets my system, and I'm able to return to my desk, more focused than ever.

Success isn't a secret, it's a system. One that includes rest, rejuvenation, recharging, and recovery. And all of those don't always happen during those regularly scheduled evening, weekend, or vacation breaks. They just don't.

You must have an understanding that recovery isn't a reward for success—it's a prerequisite. To be high-performance, you're probably going to be high-maintenance. Take your rest and recovery too far when you need to, because otherwise, you will be down for the count with something you can't recover from in a day (like a real infection or worse).

Speaking of success systems, I created one from scratch 30 years ago, and I wrote about it in my book, Vision to Reality. Get your copy here. If you want to "go far," save 50% on the STMA 100-Day Audio Program here with the code now.

How incredible can your life and business be? Let's find out!

See you tomorrow.

The ultimate difference between authors who realize hockey stick revenue growth and those who don't isn't always quality.
