🙀 The Power of (Cat Food) Accountability: A Real Story

Reading Time: Short Note, Worth the Read (under 60 seconds)

Okay, one of my coaching client's many years ago lost 30 pounds in the 5 months or so leading up to her high school reunion. Here's how:

  • She decided she really wanted to do it--and why (she wanted to knock the socks off of her high school boyfriend by looking and feeling her best)
  • She knew she could do it, if she focused and stayed committed
  • She needed accountability, so it became one of her STMA 100-Day Coaching Goals: Lose 30 pounds (of fat).

She told me to give her a consequence, any consequence I knew would work.

So I did what any logical person would do: I bought her a can of Fancy Feast Cat Food (Seafood edition). If she lost the weight, she didn't have to eat it. If she didn't, she'd have to eat it (while I was having something far more appetizing ... like real human food).

I told her to carry it around with her everywhere. To put it on the table with her at every meal. And anytime she wanted to eat something not in alignment with her goals, she needed to remember how much she (a) wanted to hit her goal and (b) how much she didn't want to eat the cat food.

Yes, this is a real story. I'll be back tomorrow to share how to win your day before breakfast.

See you then,

Reading Time: Postcard (less than 30 seconds) Steve asked a great question, "Do I need to make every single change to see results [with Feng Shui]?" The answer is, unequivocally, no. You don't need to hire a Feng Shui consultant. You don't need to "Marie Kondo" your entire house. You just need to look at your environment with fresh eyes and ask: "How does my space feel and is it helping me become who I want to be?" If the answer is yes, leave it be! And if the answer is no? Change it, one...

Reading Time: Postcard (less than 30 seconds) Did you know: Your environment is making decisions for you whether you realize it or not. There are dozens of micro-decisions you will make today based on the previous major and micro decisions you've made. If you're like me, when there are cookies in the house, you'll eat them. (Sure I can put them in the freezer "for the future" but the future is in about 20 minutes...) If my workout clothes aren't laid out the night before and ready to go, I...

Reading Time: Postcard (25 seconds) Yesterday I shared that Ms. Cat Food and I were Feng Shui practitioners--and boy did y'all love this idea. I promised to share some fun and effective actions you can take. Before I share them, let me say that everything is energy and if you have a problem, there's a good chance you've got some congestion. What you need is circulation, and Feng Shui is a circulation catalyst. Here's what she did, what I did, and what you can do: 1. Declutter everything. Get...
