What a fantastic week! Are you one of the people that's written to me to say that they've never thought about their book in such an expanded way (as possible additional books and offerings)? If so, thank you!
It's only February, so I'm just barely scratching the surface of what I plan to cover this year, so thanks for reading. I'm really looking forward to hearing your results, so be sure to keep me posted on what you come up with!
Just like that, we're at #5: Or some hand-holding (hint: consulting or coaching).
As is often the case, some of your readers will have the budget to hire you for one-on-coaching (or even a done-for-you service). By building your author-reader relationship within the pages of your book, you augment the chances of them coming to you when they need more.
To that end, let's talk about the possible coaching or consulting that you can design around your book.
You can design a coaching program or provide consulting based on your book--after it's been written. Or vice versa.
I don't have a book publishing coaching program per se, but I do have Publishing Ph.D. (which started as a live coaching program and became a course), and has a Q&A option which allows me to do some situation-specific coaching. I offer a bespoke publishing service for entrepreneurs and professionals who have more money than time and want someone else to "automagically" turn them into an author. I give away copies of You Must Write a Book and now, You Must Market a Book (that's what those sexy special edition hardcovers are for) and on a limited basis provide what I talk about in those books.
If you are a coach or consultant, your book can provide an overview of what you already offer. (This is how my book, Vision to Reality, came to be.) You can write a book on your area of expertise, then design a coaching program or consulting services. Totally up to you and both can work just great.
A coaching program can be a great addition to your stable of services, especially because folks will love the accelerated results you provide. And you book can get the word out about it!
Consulting can be so fun—you get to guide (or even provide) your client right to the exact results they want.
You might think I'm sharing what I do so if anything is the right fit for you, you may choose in—and you'd be right! Obviously I want new clients and students. But honestly, what better way is there for me to help you think about your own business than to use my own as an example? If we're the right fit, all the better.
Ultimately, I really want you to make an impact, sell more books, and make more money. Smile.
I've got more coming next week, but BOLO (be on the lookout) for your recap tomorrow. Thanks for reading, I appreciate you!

Today's Fun Olympics Movie Recommendation: Blades of Glory (you're welcome) Reading time: <46 seconds ICYMI, I love the Olympics. Thus the non-stop talk about it this week. Of course, figure skating is a fan favorite (and it's so funny to hear Scotty Hamilton commentating this year). Speaking of figure skating, the jumps aren't ultimately what wins the gold. Winning a medal comes down to the landing. A flawless program with tons of solid triple axels mean nothing if you wobble (or wipe out)...
Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: International Velvet Reading time: 22 seconds You might wonder why I'm still watching the Olympics every second I can (and talking about it every day this week). Well, it's my newsletter and I can do what I want. 🤭 Seriously, Reader, it's because being a successful author and empire builder requires consistency and creativity. And a plan. Just like these Olympians have! You need a structured plan designed to build a strong, profitable, and successful...
Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: Cool Runnings Reading time: 28.5 seconds Watching the skiers and the skaters do their things is very cool, but I've been paying close attention to who they have around them before they compete, and after they win (or don't). I've noticed that every competitor isn't there by themselves, and even writing that seems ridiculous. Of course they've got an awesome team. Every single one has a coach who pushes them, a training partner who cheers for them (and...
