🥇 Stick Your Landing & Get the Gold!

Today's Fun Olympics Movie Recommendation: Blades of Glory (you're welcome)

Reading time: <46 seconds

ICYMI, I love the Olympics. Thus the non-stop talk about it this week. Of course, figure skating is a fan favorite (and it's so funny to hear Scotty Hamilton commentating this year). Speaking of figure skating, the jumps aren't ultimately what wins the gold.

Winning a medal comes down to the landing.

A flawless program with tons of solid triple axels mean nothing if you wobble (or wipe out) on the landing.

In networking, your follow-through is what separates a good performance from your gold-medal moments.

Meeting someone incredible at an event is the jump. But the follow-up? That’s the landing. And most people completely fumble it.

They wait too long. They send a generic “just following up” messages. 🤮Most business is generated after several "touches"--and most people reach out exactly one time and then never reach out again.

Then they are surprised they have less business than they'd like. I don't want this to be you!

If you've reached out to someone you gave your book to and they (a) didn't respond, or (b) hadn't read it yet, schedule a time in the future to follow-up with them.

Before you get all "But Honorée, I don't want to be a pest," are you annoyed when someone you like reaches out to say hi, bonus points if they are someone you'd (even eventually) like to do business with? Okay, in this scenario you're the reacher-outer!

In Business Networking, I walk you through my tried-and-true strategic follow-up system—exactly what to say, when to say it, and how to keep the conversation going without being pushy or salesy.

One 5-star reviewer described it this way:

“The author (that's me, I'm the author!) explains how to make your business glow with lasting, fulfilling relationships that will ignite your motivation and create incredible abundance. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE should be reading this book.”

Since everyone hasn't read this book, well, that's why I'm talking about it. And as an aside, if you're still reading and you have a book, this is exactly what you should consider doing--talking about your book!

Now, I want a crazy awesome amount of success in your business. I want it to glow and grow big because your relationships are strong, authentic, and mutually-beneficial, long-lasting, and amazing.

Tomorrow is the final day of our Olympic-themed series—and it’s time for your medal ceremony.

Master the art of the follow-up like a boss by getting the book.

And stick your landings! I'll see you tomorrow!

Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: International Velvet Reading time: 22 seconds You might wonder why I'm still watching the Olympics every second I can (and talking about it every day this week). Well, it's my newsletter and I can do what I want. 🤭 Seriously, Reader, it's because being a successful author and empire builder requires consistency and creativity. And a plan. Just like these Olympians have! You need a structured plan designed to build a strong, profitable, and successful...

Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: Cool Runnings Reading time: 28.5 seconds Watching the skiers and the skaters do their things is very cool, but I've been paying close attention to who they have around them before they compete, and after they win (or don't). I've noticed that every competitor isn't there by themselves, and even writing that seems ridiculous. Of course they've got an awesome team. Every single one has a coach who pushes them, a training partner who cheers for them (and...

Reading time: 33 seconds If you want to compete in the Olympics, you can't just show up to the Games. It's much more difficult, as you can imagine (if you haven't seen the movie Miracle (today's recommendation), about the 1980 Men's Hockey Team, it's great and provides some insight). But here's a quick preview: They have to train for years. Then, they have to qualify (hey, Olympic Trials!). They prove themselves and earn their spot through years of showing up, doing the work, and building...
