🥇 Every gold medalist has this (and it’s not talent)

Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: Cool Runnings

Reading time: 28.5 seconds

Watching the skiers and the skaters do their things is very cool, but I've been paying close attention to who they have around them before they compete, and after they win (or don't).

I've noticed that every competitor isn't there by themselves, and even writing that seems ridiculous. Of course they've got an awesome team.

Every single one has a coach who pushes them, a training partner who cheers for them (and keeps them accountable), a nutritionist who gives them the fuels they need, and a mental performance specialist who makes sure they keep their cool when the pressure is hot.

We don't see all of them, but what we do see are the results of these teams.

Now you: let's talk about you and your business "team." Do you have the right people--and do you have enough of them?

Let's make your checklist. Do you have:

  • strategic partners & referrals sources?
  • a mentor, and coaches (for profitability, mindset, business)?
  • current clients?
  • previous clients who refer new clients to you?
  • a strong network of people in rooms sharing about you and what you do?

Great networking is built on great relationships. If you don't have every single one of those people are your checklist, you'll want to focus on strategically building your network (and soon!). And, you'll want to do it effectively and efficiently (read: there's no time to waste!). Right?

Reader & 5-Star Reviewer Daniel nailed it in his review:

“Everyone talks about networking, but Honoree brings it to life in this book with an informative list of Do’s and Don’ts, a highly applicable networking system, and a fiery advocacy for developing a RELATIONSHIP—instead of just exacting a transaction.”

In Business Networking, I show you exactly how to identify the right people to add to your professional dream team—and how to build the kind of relationships where everyone wins big.

I've distilled effective networking down to identifying what categories of professionals you need to know, identify the best strategic partners, and how to build relationships with them. You won't waste money, time, or effort, which means you'll be more successful faster!

🥇 You're just one quick read from a networking gold medal!

Tomorrow, I’ll share the system that makes it all work—your networking training plan.

Reading time: 33 seconds If you want to compete in the Olympics, you can't just show up to the Games. It's much more difficult, as you can imagine (if you haven't seen the movie Miracle (today's recommendation), about the 1980 Men's Hockey Team, it's great and provides some insight). But here's a quick preview: They have to train for years. Then, they have to qualify (hey, Olympic Trials!). They prove themselves and earn their spot through years of showing up, doing the work, and building...

The first Olympics I remember watching were the 1976 Games. Seeing Nadia Comǎneci score the first ever perfect 10 made me want to be not only an Olympian, but a gymnast to boot. Spoiler for me: I'm way too tall to be a gymnast. Whomp whomp. Quick side note: I'm going to recommend an Olympic movie I love...

You need to identify your own unique combination of conditions, rituals, and triggers that opens the writing faucet and lets the words flow. Mine? Obvi, it starts with coffee, tea, and water at my desk... Two Pomodoros (25 min each, based on The Pomodoro Technique) Music playing (always) Read first, write second 4:30-8:00 AM (before the world wakes up) When I honor my code?...
