🥇 The closing ceremony — and your gold medal moment

Today's Olympics Movie Recommendation: Chariots of Fire (I'm not crying, you're crying!)

Reading time: 30 Olympics-winning seconds

The 2026 Winter Olympics are coming to a close this weekend, and I'm a little sad I have to wait two more years for the summer Games. 😢

I've been inspired by watching the athletes pour their hearts into every performance. We’ve witnessed the joy of victory, grace of perseverance, and heart-breakingness of defeat.

There's one last AHA moment I've had this week: the Olympics don't create champions, they reveal them. And every single champion made themselves in their training.

The Games are when the world gets to see the results of the training.

Think of your networking as your training--the clients you engage, incoming referrals, and solid strategic partnerships are your gold-medal moments. But they come from the daily practice of showing up, following up, and nurturing those important relationships with care and consistency (and lots of thank you notes, coffees, Zoom meetings, and phone calls).

This week, I’ve shared some of the core strategies from Business Networking: building trust, assembling your dream team, the 12x12 System™, and the art of strategic follow-up. But there’s so much more inside the book.

Reader & 5-star reviewer Cheryl said it best:

“I have gone back over the book to help me create networking plans and setting up my own check off list. The book has helped me think about being prepared and what to do after the first and second meeting. Sometimes we forget about the ‘basics’ of networking!”

Thanks so much, Cheryl, and all of the book's reviewers.

Remember: The basics are where your gold medals come from.

If you’re ready to take your networking from random to remarkable, Business Networking is your training manual. It’s available in hardcover, paperback, Kindle, and audio—so you can train however works best for you.

Claim your gold by getting the book.

Here’s to many, many gold medal moment for you! I'll see you Monday!

Today's Fun Olympics Movie Recommendation: Blades of Glory (you're welcome) Reading time: <46 seconds ICYMI, I love the Olympics. Thus the non-stop talk about it this week. Of course, figure skating is a fan favorite (and it's so funny to hear Scotty Hamilton commentating this year). Speaking of figure skating, the jumps aren't ultimately what wins the gold. Winning a medal comes down to the landing. A flawless program with tons of solid triple axels mean nothing if you wobble (or wipe out)...

Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: International Velvet Reading time: 22 seconds You might wonder why I'm still watching the Olympics every second I can (and talking about it every day this week). Well, it's my newsletter and I can do what I want. 🤭 Seriously, Reader, it's because being a successful author and empire builder requires consistency and creativity. And a plan. Just like these Olympians have! You need a structured plan designed to build a strong, profitable, and successful...

Today's Olympic Movie Recommendation: Cool Runnings Reading time: 28.5 seconds Watching the skiers and the skaters do their things is very cool, but I've been paying close attention to who they have around them before they compete, and after they win (or don't). I've noticed that every competitor isn't there by themselves, and even writing that seems ridiculous. Of course they've got an awesome team. Every single one has a coach who pushes them, a training partner who cheers for them (and...
