Your Book, Your Marketing Magic

Reading Time: Short note

Did it surprise you when I said: you are the best person to market your book?

A bit more on this: the most successful authors aren't always the best writers or even the best marketers--but they sure do have a vision before they write a single word.

Most authors finish their manuscript, then turn an eye toward how to market it.

If you want a book that practically markets itself, you build marketing into the book, not bolted it on after.

If you already have a book and thought yesterday's postcard wasn't particularly helpful, just grab You Must Market Your Book. (You'll thank me later.)

I wrote it to teach you how to think about book marketing, not be like the 99.5% of authors who just Google: "how to market a book."

Tactics don't matter without strategy.

See you tomorrow.

Reading Time: Postcard I am frequently asked if I know someone who can help with book marketing. It is never as simple as someone thinks it should be: I've written a book, surely there's someone who can help me talk about it out in world. The answer is unexpected, but after 21 years and 68 books this is what I know to be the true answer: Yes, I do. It's you, you are the book who can help with your book marketing. Before you write a single word: Identify what you want the book to do for you...

Reading Time: 4x6 Postcard It's Sunday and I'm going to read like it's my job today! Oh, wait ... 😊 But first, I got a question about the algorithms you might want to know the answer to, too.: Aren't the (Amazon) algorithms constantly changing, so there's really no way to engage them? I know for a fact this is both true and false at the same time. Yes, they are always changing. And yes, you can engage (read: train) them. Think of your book as a baby (not your baby) and you want to keep that...

Reading Time: Short missive Happy Saturday! Is it possible to have a non-drinking hangover? Asking for a friend. My coauthor, Ali, and I have 58 reviews for The Success Code and we both been mighty focused on getting reviews. I explained to him that "just anyone with an Amazon account" isn't the goal--we want reviews from people who would read this type of book anyway. (Business professionals, entrepreneurs, senior-level professionals ... and anyone who is a self-improvement devotee.) Why? To...
