When writing and publishing start to feel lighter

Reading Time: 39 seconds

Wow, what a first week back to work! Well, hello, 2026--you've definitely come in hot! Welcome...

Let me be serious for a sec, Reader, because there’s something I see with writers at every stage in their book-writing process:

They don’t get stuck because they don’t know how to write. They get stuck because they’re juggling too many decisions at once.

While you’re writing, you’re often also thinking:

  • Is this the right direction?
  • Does this chapter belong here? (And if not here, where the heck does it go? Does it even go in this book?!)
  • Am I saying too much … or not enough?
  • What is this book actually meant to do?

And once the book is finished, the questions don’t stop:

  • What happens next?
  • Do I hire my team before I finish my draft (what if I don't?), or when it's completely finished?
  • When should this book be released?
  • Should it stand alone or lead to something else?
  • Is there a way to turn this into a course, a workbook, or another income stream?
  • How do I earn back the time and money I've invested into it?

When all of those questions live in your head at the same time, progress slows both on the page and beyond it.

This is not because you’re undisciplined, and definitely not because you’re doing anything wrong!!

It comes down to the fact that writing and strategy are colliding without any space to separate them.

This is why having a place to talk things through matters.

In my Live Q&As, people bring:

  • Areas they’re stuck on
  • Questions about structure and clarity
  • And questions about what this book becomes after it’s written

Sometimes the most helpful thing is having someone say:
“This belongs in the book.”
“This doesn’t.”
“Finish first and we’ll handle that part next.”

Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary guessing game, and publishing doesn’t have to feel like a cliff you fall off of after the last page.

If you’re writing a book or wondering what to do with the one you’ve already written, this is the room where those decisions get lighter. (And it’s fun and the people are super cool.)

Our first live Q&A of the year is next Tuesday (and if you can't make it live, you can submit your question ahead of time and I'll record your answer for the replay). You can join for $97/month or get lifetime access for $997 by clicking here.

I'll be taking tomorrow off to sit back, relax and get my Landman fix in. See you on Monday!

Reading Time: 36 seconds One of my dearest friends is constantly reminding me to celebrate--big wins, little wins, all the wins. It's tempting to just nod, smile, and go "Okay, that's great. Next!" But I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth, if you know what I mean. To myself, I nod and move on. To others, I say, "But you have to celebrate!" It's really great (not being sarcastic, really) to have people in your life who point out these, ahem, discrepancies. I'm here to remind you to...
