😢 I actually threw a book away

Reading time: 27.5 seconds

I missed my email yesterday—thanks to everyone who asked for “proof of life.” It’s heart-warming to know I’m missed.

I’ve said for years (all of the years) that “Even if someone doesn’t read a book, they’ll never throw it away.” Well, I was wrong.

Not too long ago, I was given a book and even though the cover left much to be desired, I was truly interested in reading it.

However, when I opened it, I found it unreadable. The font was too large and one of the more challenging to look at. Then came the typos and missing words. By page 7, I realized a few things:

  • I couldn’t read it. Even thought I wanted to.
  • I couldn’t pass it on.
  • I couldn’t even donate it. 😔

One more—a book can be so poorly published, people will pass even if they would otherwise read, love, review, and share about it.

I did the unthinkable—I apologized to the book gods and put the book in the trash.

How can you avoid this with your book?

You can take Publishing PhD (my comprehensive course walks you through the process—get it here and use code subscriber to save 30%: https://honoreecorder.com/publishing-ph-d/) and …

Go to your bookshelf and find a traditionally published book publisher. Take notice of the design, font, big and small details. Model your book’s cover and interior after what the big kids in NYC do. There are reasons for every choice made in the book creation process. I’ll see you tomorrow!

Reading time: 29 seconds One of my former estate planning attorney clients had a problem. His overall business revenue was stuck at just under $500,000. He was trading time for money and burning out fast. He took my advice and wrote the book he'd been talking about for a couple of years, and that book changed everything. You might think (as many do) that he sold lots of books to increase his income. Nope. He actually used it to raise his fees, create a free online mini course for prospective...

Reading time: 28 seconds Two years. Over a decade ago, one of my friends told me she spent two years painstakingly writing her "perfect book." She finally hit publish and waited. And waited. And waited. #crickets #notevenacricket What she didn't realize, until we got connected, that writing a great book is only 20% of a book's success. Marketing is the other 80%. Most authors think marketing means posting on social media, sending an email or seven, and then hoping for the best. We've talked...
