Okay, wow, y'all really liked me on a rant. Thanks so much for all of the shares, replies, and comments.

I have two more cents on this aspect of empire building, and if you want me to expand on either, just ask:

• If you're not getting paid what you're worth, first work on your money mindset (I suggest Prosperity for Writers by yours truly and The Magic Money Book Series by Holly Alexander), and then ask. If you don't a-s-k, you do not g-e-t.
• Make sure you bring the heat if you're charging a premium, especially for a commodity service. Meaning: you can't charge extraordinary prices for ordinary work. Bespoke work brings bespoke prices. Everything else is just a rip-off (you know who you are).

Today's a day of celebration. I've been telling you all month it's the 2nd birthday for You Must Monetize Your Book. Oops (I'm a writer, not a math-er, apparently).
