Momentum Matters: 100 Days at a Time

Reading Time: Short Missive (48 seconds)

Okay, so let's pick up where we left off yesterday--with why my 100-day goal achievement process is awesome (I know I don't sound humble here, but stay with me), but first, what is a BHAG?

It's a big, hairy, audacious goal.

In Vision to Reality, I share how I used to be an executive coach, working with top achievers in 100-day increments.

While I don't share this in the book, I had noticed that most people take the approach of "long term, minimal action" which, to be quite frank with you, does not work. Let's face it, when you're half-assing something, you're not gonna love your results. (You gotta use your full ass. Just sayin'.)

So, and you can read the rest of the story, but TLDR: I created 100-day sprints, and called them Short-Term Massive Action. Just like my trainer says, "Let's do crunches for one minute!" followed by, "You can do anything for sixty seconds," (I know, debatable), you can focus on any initiative for 100 days to allow for some momentum to kick in.

It's a great time for a sidebar, though, because when you're building an empire (or a new business or a new book), it takes upwards of two years to really get traction. It *can* be faster if you do your 3 STMAs every year, though.

Back to BHAGs for a second--it's a goal that's big enough to make you nauseous, question your sanity, and take a pause. And it is probably the exact goal you need to go for.

Now, why is a 100-day STMA on repeat in your life and business awesome? Because it allows you to double-down on your focus and intensity for a period, then pause, reflect, catch your breath, and go again.

Even more awesome: You are likely to achieve more, faster and easier within your 100-day sprint than you would in a regular entire year. (I know, it is cool!)

I do 3 100-day sessions every year (and I'll talk more about that in a few weeks, in case you want to join the fun). But for now, pull out your copy of Vision to Reality (2nd Edition) or get one right here: https://amzn.to/4oPum6Z and I'll see you tomorrow.

Reading Time: Short Missive (58 seconds) I'm a little late to the party this morning, as I've been simultaneously finishing the first draft of Project 100 (more details on that when I can share) and prepping for the Empire Builders Mastermind Class of 2026 kickoff. We're having our kickoff dinner this evening, and then two days of strategizing for next year. As I've been waiting for the caffeine to kick in, I've been thinking about you, Reader, and why you're most likely here, reading my...

Reading Time: Postcard (38 seconds) Thank you to everyone who took advantage of the Black Friday -- Cyber Monday course sales and welcome! Two parts of my financial practice are tithing and giving. I give a portion of every dollar earned and received. So it's fitting that we've got two "giving" great days fairly close to each other, Thanksgiving and Giving Tuesday (which is today). Part of my intentional giving is to support organizations I know are doing great work. One of these is Family &...

Reading Time: Postcard Pep Talk (33 seconds) If your inbox is anything like mine, Reader, then it's probably overflowing today — sales, countdowns, noise from every direction. So let’s skip the clutter (ya'll know how I feel about clutter!) and go right to what matters. There’s only one Cyber Monday decision that keeps paying you back in January… next summer… next year… and every year after that. It’s not the gadgets. Not the kitchen tools. Not the creams or cozy things we all get tempted by....
