Have Your Best Year Ever (Seriously)

Reading Time: 30 seconds

There's a whole lot of "new year, new you" going on right now--and I think the old you is probably just great.

I also think you probably want to have a really great year--one where you feel like you left everything you could on the mat and made the most of the year.

Yesterday I got to give an impromptu talk to a networking group about this very topic, and I thought I'd share my talking points with you.

I'll start by sharing where I focus my time:

  • Publishing 10-20 bespoke books for clients
  • Writing 3-10 of my own books
  • Running the Empire Builders Mastermind (2026 is year 8)
  • Personal development in the form of reading, meditating, and exercising
  • Being a double dog, cat, and turtle mom (it's a whole thing, IYKYK)

Your success--and mine--is not a secret, it's a system (you've heard me say this before, I'm sure), and here's part of my system:

  1. I determine my goals, which I also know are both uncontrolled and lagging indicators of my ...
  2. Pre-determined activities. These are the leading indicators, which I do control (such as how many discovery conversations I have, emails I send, etc.), which means I must ...
  3. Block my time to make sure: 1. My energy is high, 2. I focus on the concept of "Givers Gain," and 3. I do Ryan Serhant's F3 strategy from his book Sell It Like Serhant.

One more thing: No. It's a complete sentence. In order to achieve big goals, you have to say no. A lot. As in, "No you can't pick my brain for free." "No, I'm not going to binge watch whatever before I follow-up with prospective clients, write 500 words, and/or clean out my inbox."

Success isn't always sexy, either. It requires focus and discipline--but I know for a fact it is always worth it.

That's it. I'll see you tomorrow!*

Reading Time: 33 seconds Over the years, I’ve noticed something, Reader. No matter which course someone is in, there are always a handful of questions that come up again and again. Questions like: “Is this the right title and subtitle for my book?” “What’s the job of my book — and how do I know if it’s doing that job?” “Should I do rapid release… or space my books out?” “How do I actually build an advance reader team that works?” “What should I do next once the book is done?” These are not...

Reading Time: 20 seconds It's STMA Day 2, and I realized I had missed an important day. (Note to myself and you: remember to take a beat to celebrate both big and little wins.) Anyhoodle, January 3rd marked my 21st anniversary as a published author. I can't believe I published my first book twenty-one years ago! Which means I' ve been at it more than two decades. Yes, I've been building my empire one day at a time (and yes, 100 days at a time). There were easy days and fun days, lots of those...

Reading Time: 28 seconds Okay--if you're not a morning person and it's morning, you'll want to read this later. Because I am so a morning person! AND, today is day 1 of my first 100 day "sprint" for the year. Needless to say, I am up before my alarm and ready to go! If you're thinking, "Too chipper, Honorée, too chipper," come on back after you've had some coffee. :) No judgment here. (As an aside, I do love a nice, long vacation break but toward the end I start to get antsy and the ideas...
