It's STMA Day 2, and I realized I had missed an important day.

(Note to myself and you: remember to take a beat to celebrate both big and little wins.)

Anyhoodle, January 3rd marked my 21st anniversary as a published author. I can't believe I published my first book twenty-one years ago! Which means I' ve been at it more than two decades. Yes, I've been building my empire one day at a time (and yes, 100 days at a time).

There were easy days and fun days, lots of those for sure. There were hard days and ugly days, of course. Days when I questioned everything and wondered if perhaps I should have chosen another path (I still have some of those days!). I don't because there are lots of days when everything clicked into place, reminding me of my "why" and kept me focused on doing the "what."

Anyone you hear talk about how they just decided to be "totally successful" and everything happened "automagically" is full of you know what...

Through all of it, I chose to stay committed, to being an entrepreneur (a bookpreneur even), and an empire builder. I chose to bet on myself when no one else was—or would.

Let me say the quiet part out loud: *YOU* have to choose to stay committed, to work on your self (self-confidence, self-belief, every self needs attention!), to take radical responsibility for your results, to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when everything around you is either on fire or falling apart. You have to bet on yourself--and it's the safest freaking bet you can make.

Today, I'm taking a brief moment to celebrate. To breathe. To acknowledge how far this road has stretched behind me.

And then? Eyes back to the horizon. The vision hasn't changed. The work continues.

Here's to betting on yourself. I'll see you tomorrow!
