Your Book Outline Can Practically Write Itself...

... which means your book will be much easier to write!

Reading time: 35 seconds

I get this question a lot:

"What should go in each chapter?"

In Write Your First Nonfiction Book, I offer assistance.

No, I don't think this is how every nonfiction book should be structured. Nor do I think it's perfect. And no, I don't use it for every book.

But I do know it's easier to start with something and move words and pieces around, as opposed to starting at a blank page with the cursor blinking at me.

Or is that just me?

So, in the book, I share an eight-chapter outline to get you started with something:

  1. Encouragement - Designed to build your reader's confidence
  2. Stories and examples - Provide hope and encouragement by showing how others before them have been successful
  3. Process overview - This is where you share your step-by-step method
  4. Simple formula - A memorable acronym or system (you'll also want to read The Bestselling Book Formula to really master this piece)
  5. Formula in action - How readers can apply (practically) your process
  6. Additional resources - In here, you'll provide extra tools and tips so your readers are successful
  7. Getting optimal results - Be sure to help them avoid mistakes so they can accelerate their success
  8. Call to action - Inspire and encourage your readers to implement what you've shared with them

This structure works because it's both logical for you to write and compelling for your readers to follow. It guides them from "I hope this is possible" to "I can do this!"

Reading time: 17.5 seconds The final chapter of my tried-and-true guide to "Write Your First Nonfiction Book" contains what I call "The Single Most Important Section in this Book." (Good, right?) My message is simple but powerful: Everything I share is a suggestion, not a rule. You can follow my formula exactly, or you can customize it to fit your unique voice and vision. What matters most is that you start writing and keep writing until your book is complete. As I say in the book's closing...

Reading time: 45 seconds I'm sure you have been wondering, What makes Honorée shake her head about books? Yup, I have a little ESP, and I'll tell you one thing: When people have "writing a book" on their goal or bucket list, and then just pop one out, with no intention or forethought. I know in my heart, that with both of those, the book I'm looking at could have been so much better, more effective, and yes, a client magnet. You know, this, right, that your book isn't "just" a book—it's a...
