Why your book might not sell (and it's not what you think)

Reading time: < 30 seconds

I read a book recently and could not, for the life of me, remember the name. It had been a gift (no Amazon purchase history), wasn't on Kindle (couldn't look for it that way), and the title wasn't "the best."

Really fun book, made an impact, no idea who wrote it or what the title was.

Has this ever happened to you? You read a book, loved it, and then tried to recommend it to someone, only to completely blank on the title or the author's name? (Come on, throw me a bone, I can't be the only one...)

Anyway, the moment passed and with it your opportunity to share about it.

As terrible as that sounds, what happens if it's your book and you are the author?

I know, that hurts!

You might assume that if you write a good book, get reviews and sales, and all the things, it's gonna sell and sell well. I've seen--okay, I have written and published good book, launched them (yeah, I've screwed up more than twice), and watched them all but disappear.

Were there crickets? Nope, not even crickets. So I got curious about why. Why do some books, often with mediocre covers and zero launch strategy sell and just keep selling, year after year after year.

I decided to analyze dozens of long-term bestsellers (the ones still selling at least a decade later) and I found out they all had four things they all in common.

You might think it was the quality of the writing (not always), marketing strategy (hard to market a book when you're dead), or even the publisher (they didn't have that in common, any of them!).

It was the way the book was crafted. The Bestselling Book Formula will help you understand it, and tomorrow I'm going to walk you through the first two keys.

( 🚨 Spoiler alert: once you see this, you'll never look at a book title the same way again. )

In the meantime — the birthday deals are still on:
