😮 The truth about writing timelines that might surprise you

Reading time: 35 seconds

Every day I leave my house (hi, introvert here!) I get the question: "Honorée, how long does it take you to write a book?" What I've discovered they are really asking is, "Honorée, how long will it take me to write my book?"

Although I have historically published several books a year, the answer I have for you might be a surprise:

I recommend giving yourself a full year.

Yes, you could do it faster, but here at Reality.com, we're focused on real, profitable, long-term results. So before you panic, hear me out!

I see a lot of, "Write your book in a weekend!" Or "You need to/can write your book in 30 days." (Thanks, NaNoWriMo).

But here's what usually happens with a "fast" (read: rushed) approach:

  • The content that doesn't serve the author or their readers (definitely not as much as it could)
  • There's no time for proper editing
  • The end result, the "book," looks self-published rather than professionally published
  • It's missing the key elements that turn it into a revenue-generating machine

My approach in Write Your First Nonfiction Book:

  • Plan to write consistently (just 50 minutes a day!) for three to six months, while you ...
  • Schedule your editorial, design, and copy creation, keep an eye on how to determine your ...
  • Strategic front and back matter, so you end up with ...
  • A book that works hard for you for at least a decade

One of my clients followed this process and landed a $75,000 consulting contract directly from someone who read his book.

Another author I know charges 50% more for her services now—simply because she's "the woman who wrote the book" on her topic.

Slow down. Take the year. Write the book right. Change your life.

Reading time: Less than 15 seconds This isn't a surprise: Your book is your empire's foundation, the center of your "wheel of fortune." While most authors celebrate hitting "publish" and watch their royalty checks trickle in at $3.47 per month, empire builders see something completely different. They see: speaking gigs at $25K per day course sales at six figures annually Mastermind programs worth seven figures The difference? They know the secret that's not a secret: Your book is not your...

Reading time: 22.22 seconds This is it—the final hours of celebration and the Write Your First Nonfiction Book 99¢ birthday sale. Before you decide to pass for now, I want you to imagine something... One year from today: I'm celebrating the book's 3rd birthday and your book's actual birthday! You're holding your finished book. The cover is beautiful, the content is polished, and you're genuinely proud of what you've created. Then this happens: Your phone buzzes—it's an email from someone who...

Reading time: 25 seconds It's almost the last day for the 99¢ book birthday sale, and I know a lot of you have already bought the book. But sometimes you need more than a book, you need an entire "toolkit" of resources to ensure you dot every i and cross every t. Allow me to simultaneously provide said toolkit while demonstrating how one income stream can simultaneously and almost instantaneously become three. Having the right resources makes all the difference, so when I wrote: 📖 The Book...
