Up at 3 a.m.? Sometimes, me, too.

I've been really busy lately, running out of daylight or brainpower (sometimes not in that order). I've got a lot going on--I know you do, too--and even though I fall asleep (according to my SleepNumber bed) in less than one minute, I've been waking up at 3 a.m. I know, that is super early, and it's a full hour and a half earlier than I usually get up (and 4:30 isn't exactly late, either).

Those extra 90 minutes can mean the difference between me being creative and me counting the hours until I can go back to bed. I digress.

A couple of the morning I've been running through something that happened the day before that was tough or frustrating, something I wish I'd done differently. This morning, I wasn't awake 15 seconds before I started thinking about "all the things" on my calendar for today, the status of my goals, and could not fall back asleep until...

Sidebar: In case you're wondering if I can just turn off my alarm and sleep in a little, alas, Shadow and Rogue have my back and they make sure I don't sleep past my alarm time. 🤣

...until I said my pre-determined phrase: "It always works out--for the good of all concerned." Then I started counting backwards from 100 and got another much-needed hour.

I call this type of nonsense my "monkey mind," and let me tell you, that monkey isn't doing me any favors. I--we!--need rest! Sleep is a success strategy, right? Right.

Today's tip from the book:

Call out your monkey mind. If he's asking terrible questions like "What if it doesn't work out?" and "What if I made a huge mistake?" just remind yourself "It always works out--for the good of all concerned." That monkey mind is a bully, and how do you treat bullies? You stand up to them and they back down.

If you're monkey mind is rooted in fear, same rules apply. And, I've got an entire chapter on transforming your fear into fuel (it might be the best sleep aid you've ever found).

Here's to a great night's rest tonight and every night (for both of us).

Reading time: < 30 seconds One book was an income stream. Scratch that--one book was two income streams (at first): book and ebook. A book and a workbook--well, now we're talking four income streams. Now with the availability of POD (print on demand) hardcover and easily accessible audiobooks, each book and companion is four income streams, each! So a book and a companion product (workbook, journal, companion guide, to name three) can be a package, a system, a reason for readers to come back....

Okay, I can't believe it's Saturday (where did the week go?). January was such a long year, February was a flash and now we're in the final month of Q1. Wait, what?! The number of you who've replied and said you'd never heard of this book (Stop Trying So F*cking Hard) reminded me that it's always a great idea to keep marketing your book--even if you're tired of talking about it, there's someone who hasn't heard of it (and would really like to). If you have a book you haven't talked about in...

Reading Time: 19 seconds Reader, I see most aspiring authors get stuck in the space between: “I’m not sure…” and “I’ll figure it out later.” Weeks turn into months, and those months turn into years. If this is you: You're still tweaking your subtitle, rescheduling your publishing date, or researching, well, anything that has to do with book publishing, marketing, or monetizing ... you might want to consider what I've been talking about for the past few days. Imagine a scenario where you bring...
